I don't remember when I first watched Star Wars, I just always remember there being Star Wars. :) We had them taped from the TV, which I remember watching a lot, even though the end of the movies were all cut off because the tapes were too short! In 1997 we moved to Germany and I went to the American bookstore and started buying the books and then the Special Edition came out and I got that. I've since worn out the RotJ video, but replaced it on Ebay and now have the original theatrical releases on DVD.
I have had a Luke Skywalker X-Wing pilot since I think around '82 or earlier. His X-Wing was an old McDonald's Big Mac styrofoam container!
As I got older and started working I kept my fandom under wraps for a while. If I read the books at work, I would put them away when someone else came in the room - things like that. When I started college again when we moved here, I started bringing it out more by working Star Wars into my homework. I did a paper of Social Responsibility in business and I did mine on George Lucas' educational foundations. We also had to do a resume and cover letter for an actual job posting, so I pulled a job posting from Lucas Arts. :)
I've been collecting the books all along. I wanted to go to Celebration IV (the 2007 Star Wars convention), but I had to choose between that and Iceland, so obviously Iceland won! I plan on attending Celebration V in LA in 2009. I have also started buying some more toys and stuff (just ones I really want, not everything!) and I'm a Hyperspace member (fan Club). I've also gotten interested in Costuming and prop making and hope to join the 501st and the Rebel Legion.
Just what I need - more hobbies and more stuff to spend my money on!

I pretty much collect just things I'm interested in, as opposed to full lines of things. I do want to end up having an entire X-Wing Squadron of pilots...I collect the books (at least the ones after RotJ) and the Legacy Comics.
