Is my child’s development being nurtured in a manner that will prepare him/her for school?
How does the early education of the children in my community compare with that of other communities?
Does my community do all that it can to support its children? Our children face a world that is going through changes at an unpredictable rate. It is imperative that every child gets the best start through early learning in order to face these changes. Therefore it is necessary to ensure that every possible resource and support is available to parents. In essence, we all have a stake in supporting positive child development in our communities. Understanding the Early Years (UEY) is a research project designed to support communities and parents in the Annapolis Valley. As the first word in our title suggests, Understanding is key. The purpose of UEY is to provide communities with research on the state of early learning throughout the valley region. The UEY project has conducted research and collected data through out 41 communities in the Annapolis Valley. We are here to provide information on school readiness, community supports, demographic trends and socio-economic environments. It is our goal through this research to grow early learning opportunities in communities and support parents in raising healthy happy children. |
